Pabna, July 15 (V7N) – Dr. Awal Kabir Joy, Assistant Professor of the Department of Social Work, and Dr. Abdur Rahim, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), have been elected President and General Secretary, respectively, in the Pabna University of Science and Technology Teachers' Association election.

The election was held on Sunday, July 14, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the university's Teachers' and Officers' Club after nearly five years.

A total of 30 teachers contested for 15 positions from two panels: Professor Dr. Saiful Islam-Professor Dr. Shamim Reza and Dr. Awal Kabir Joy-Dr. Abdur Rahim. The Joy-Rahim panel won 11 positions, including President and General Secretary.

The elected members from the Dr. Awal Kabir Joy-Dr. Abdur Rahim panel are Dr. Shariful Haque (Vice President), Professor Dr. Noor Alam (Treasurer), Dr. Tahmina Tasnim Nahar (Joint General Secretary), Dr. Nazmul Islam (Member), Dr. Ashraful Islam (Member), Dr. Nazmul Hossain (Member), Dr. Kamrul Hasan (Member), Dr. Shayla Akter (Member).

The elected members from the Professor Dr. Saiful Islam-Professor Dr. Shamim Reza panel are Professor Dr. Mir Khaled Iqbal Chowdhury (Member), Dr. Omar Faruq (Member), Dr. Ekramul Islam (Member), and Rehana Begum (Member).

After winning the election, the newly elected President, Dr. Awal Kabir Joy, told Voice Seven News, "I am grateful to those who voted for me and my panel. Thanks to the Election Commission for delivering a well-organized election. We will work for the welfare of the university in the coming days with everyone's support."

General Secretary Dr. Abdur Rahim told Voice Seven News, "We are satisfied with the election results. We worked hard for this election, and today we have seen the results. Our panel has achieved an overwhelming victory, and we hope to accomplish great things together in the future."

The Chief Election Commissioner for the election was Professor Dr. Kamruzzaman Khan. The Election Commissioners were Dr. Imran Hossain and Dr. Zahidul Islam.

Notably, the Pabna University of Science and Technology Teachers' Association election was held after five long years. The last election was held in 2019.
