DU, Aug 01 (V7N) - On Thursday (August 01), teachers and students from various departments at Dhaka University will organize a rally and form a human chain to protest recent police violence against their peers.
Professor Salim Raihan from the Economics Department announced that a rally will take place at 11 a.m. at the base of Oporajeyo Bangla, condemning the harassment and violence directed at students and faculty. He called on all university departments to join the protest.
The Public Administration Department will also participate by forming a human chain at noon at the same location. This follows an incident on Wednesday where faculty members Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan and Prof. Dr. Nusrat Zahan Choudhury were injured while trying to protect a student during a police action near the Supreme Court.
Earlier, Dhaka University teachers had joined the ‘March for Justice’ to support student-led movements across the country.
