Government officials in Singapore announced on Tuesday that Taylor Swift has been granted a grant to play in the city-state.

This acknowledges the efforts made to convince the pop sensation to come to the island—her lone stop in Southeast Asia—and the potential economic benefits of her appearances.
Early in March, Swift is scheduled to play six sold-out performances in Singapore.

The amount of the grant was not disclosed by the tourism board or the culture ministry, but they did note in a statement that Swift's popularity has brought about economic benefits for her concerts worldwide and that the ministry collaborated with concert promoter AEG Presents to secure Swift's performance in Singapore.

"It is likely to generate significant benefits to the Singapore economy, especially to tourism activities such as hospitality, retail, travel and dining, as has happened in other cities in which Taylor Swift has performed," they stated.

Since the end of the pandemic lockdowns, Singapore has experienced a surge in concert attendance, with sold-out performances by well-known artists like Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and Blackpink.
Srettha Thavisin, the prime minister of Thailand, stated at a business event on Friday that Swift had received payment from Singapore of 100 million baht ($2.77 million) per concert, purportedly with the stipulation that Singapore would be the only show in Southeast Asia for Swift.

The exclusivity restriction was not addressed by the Singaporean government, but according to AEG, Swift will only be performing once in Southeast Asia, on the island country, where VIP tickets would cost S$1,228 ($913.55).
Swift also had a performance in Tokyo earlier in February, on the larger Asian continent.
Her shows in Singapore are scheduled for March 2–9. Fans who waited in line through the night in the sweltering tropical heat were sold over 300,000 tickets.

AEG Presents could not be reached for comment at this time.
$1 is equivalent to 36.0600 baht. One Singapore dollar is equal to 1.3442.
