Jointly directed by Delwar Jahan Jhantu of Bangladesh and Rajiv Biswas of India, the film boasts a government initiative with an impressive budget of 21 crore rupees.
The shooting for the film is already underway, and one of the key cast members, actor Omar Sani, has shared a sneak peek into his portrayal of Major General Onkar Singh Katkar of the Indian Army in 1971. Sani, who plays the crucial role, took to social media to express his excitement, sharing a picture of himself in character as Major Luke.
In an Instagram post, Sani wrote, "A huge incident of the freedom struggle of 1971 begins - 'Operation Jackpot.' In this movie, Onkar Singh Katkar was the most powerful officer of India at that time. I appeared with his character in Operation Jackpot. Thanks to the producer and director of this movie."
The movie aims to highlight one of the most successful guerrilla operations conducted in the naval sector during the War of Independence. Set in the early hours of August 16, 1971, simultaneous guerrilla operations were carried out in Chittagong and Mongla seaports, Chandpur, and Narayanganj. The freedom fighters, during this daring campaign, successfully sank 26 ships carrying arms, food, and oil from Pakistan and several other countries.
