Los Angeles, Aug 16 (V7N) - Leonardo DiCaprio, now 50, says he feels younger than his age but still carries one significant regret from his early career — turning down the role of Dirk Diggler in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 1997 film Boogie Nights.
In a conversation with Anderson featured in the upcoming September issue of Esquire, DiCaprio referred to it as his "biggest regret" professionally. At the time, however, the young actor had already committed to play Jack Dawson in Titanic, the James Cameron-directed epic that went on to become one of the most successful films in history.
Despite missing out on Boogie Nights, DiCaprio is now working with Anderson for the first time in the filmmaker’s latest project, One Battle After Another, set to release in theaters on September 26.
The actor’s candid remarks provide a rare glimpse into the complex decisions that shape Hollywood careers, especially when opportunities compete during defining moments. Although DiCaprio has enjoyed a long list of critically acclaimed roles and won an Academy Award for The Revenant, the actor's admiration for Boogie Nights and Anderson’s direction has remained consistent.
The new collaboration between DiCaprio and Anderson is highly anticipated, especially given their long-awaited creative pairing after decades of mutual respect.
