The Screen Actors Guild Awards, the annual celebration of the actors' union, brought out Hollywood's finest on Saturday in Los Angeles. The stars dazzled on the red carpet with their fashion choices, showcasing some of the trends that have been dominating the awards season. Here are some of the highlights:
The timeless elegance of black and white was evident in some of the most stunning looks of the night. Ali Wong, who won for her role in the Netflix series "Beef," wore a striking white Iris van Herpen haute couture dress with a geometric design. America Ferrera, from the nominated cast of "Barbie," looked like a fairy-tale princess in a black Dior gown with a sheer white overlay and a diamond necklace. Selena Gomez, a nominee for "Only Murders in the Building," sparkled in a white Versace dress that fit her perfectly.
The rich colours of jewels added glamour and sophistication to the red carpet. Fran Drescher, the SAG-AFTRA president who led the actors' strike against major studios, shone in a glittery red dress with a lace detail. Lily Gladstone, who won the best lead actress in a film award for "Killers of the Flower Moon," also chose red, a fringed halter dress. Ariana Greenblatt, from the cast of "Barbie," impressed in a strapless burgundy velvet ball gown by Vera Wang. Jeffrey Wright, a nominee for "American Fiction," matched the ladies in a burgundy tux.
The metallic hues of gold and silver added some shine and sparkle to the red carpet. Jennifer Aniston, a nominee and a presenter, looked stunning in a silver gown with thin straps and a slit. Carey Mulligan, a nominee for "Maestro," switched to a gold Armani gown at the last minute due to a wardrobe malfunction.
The playful and feminine style of Barbiecore was embraced by some of the stars, especially Margot Robbie, who was nominated for playing the iconic doll. She wore a black mini-dress by Schiaparelli with a pink drape that wrapped around her body. Brie Larson, a nominee for "Lessons in Chemistry," wore a pale pink Versace outfit consisting of a crop top and a ball skirt, inspired by a photo of Claudia Schiffer. Colman Domingo, who has been a red carpet standout, wore a pink tux with black accents and a criss-cross pattern.
The gala began with the signature "I am an actor" speeches, one of them delivered by Colman Domingo, who stars in "Rustin" about the 1963 March on Washington organizer.
