New Delhi, Sept 24 (V7N) – After more than three decades in Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan has achieved a career milestone by winning his first National Film Award for Best Actor. The recognition came at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony, held on Tuesday at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu presented the award.

Known as the “King of Bollywood,” Khan had previously delivered numerous blockbuster films across his 33-year career. However, like many actors, he also faced setbacks, with his films struggling at the box office for a period, particularly after Zero in 2018. Following a four-year break, he made a powerful comeback with consecutive hits Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. His performance in Jawan earned him the prestigious national honor, completing what many describe as a full circle in his career.

Khan attended the ceremony in a traditional black sherwani with a closed collar, paired with sunglasses. Despite being in Poland for the shooting of his upcoming film King, he flew back to Delhi to receive the award in person. At the event, he warmly greeted actress Rani Mukerji and playfully responded to the host who introduced him as the “King of Arts,” blowing a flying kiss toward the audience.

This year’s National Awards recognized several other prominent names. Vikrant Massey shared the Best Actor award for his performance in 12th Fail. Rani Mukerji received the Best Actress award for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. Veteran South Indian superstar Mohanlal was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. The Best Hindi Film award went to Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery, while the team of Sam Bahadur won three national awards.

The National Film Awards, presented annually by the Government of India, are regarded as the most prestigious recognition in Indian cinema. Shah Rukh Khan’s long-awaited win has not only delighted his fans worldwide but also marked a defining moment in his illustrious career.
