Dhaka, Sept 28 (V7N) – The annual Amar Ekushey Book Fair, originally scheduled for December 2025, has been postponed once again due to the upcoming national elections, the organizing body, Bangla Academy, announced on Sunday.

According to a notice signed by Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam, the decision follows the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive on September 21, 2025, which stated that the Amar Ekushey Book Fair should be held after the national elections. Based on consultations with BAPUS and other relevant stakeholders, the dates initially set for the 2026 edition of the fair have now been suspended.

The notice added that a new schedule will be announced later in consultation with publishers and other participants. Previously, the fair had been planned to run from December 17, 2025, to January 17, 2026.

Bangla Academy emphasized that the postponement aims to ensure a smooth and safe environment for both participants and visitors, aligning with national priorities during the election period.
