State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat emphasized the potential of films as a powerful medium to showcase Bangladesh to the world. Speaking at the Bangladesh Film Directors' Association (BFDA) Award distribution ceremony, he expressed his commitment to supporting and advancing the film industry.
Arafat praised BFDA's initiative to honor artists and collaborators and encouraged more private initiatives in the future. He acknowledged that while the government cannot do everything, it will provide full cooperation to foster a conducive environment for the film industry to thrive.
Recalling the historical significance of cinema in Bangladesh, Arafat highlighted its role during the Liberation War and emphasized the need to address the current challenges facing the industry. He emphasized the importance of turning challenges into opportunities and making cinema halls economically viable.
The state minister mentioned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's directives to develop the film industry, including establishing Cineplexes and multipurpose cinema halls across the country. He expressed hope that with support and dedication, the film industry would regain its past glory, producing quality films that attract audiences back to cinema halls.
The event also featured speeches by FDC Managing Director Nuzhat Yeasmin, BFDA President Kazi Hayat, Secretary General Shahin Sumon, and ATN Bangla Chairman Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman. Arafat later distributed awards among the winners, reaffirming the government's commitment to promoting the film industry in Bangladesh.
