Actress Mehzabeen Chowdhury's debut film, Saba, directed by Maksud Hossain, is set to make its world premiere at the 49th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The movie will have four screenings at the festival, with the first screening scheduled for September 7. Remarkably, all the tickets for this premiere sold out within half an hour of being made available, much to the surprise and delight of the director and his team.

Maksud Hossain expressed his excitement about this achievement, noting that it is a significant milestone for Bangladeshi cinema to be so well-received at an international event. The movie Saba, which tells the story of a woman named Saba and her relationship with her mother, as well as a young man named Ankur who impacts their lives, will also be shown on September 8 and 14.

The film stars Mehzabeen Chowdhury as Saba, Rokeya Prachi as her mother Shireen, and Mustafa Manwar as Ankur. After its world premiere in Toronto, Saba is expected to be screened at various other film festivals before its official release in Bangladesh early next year.

The director and key cast members, including Mehzabeen Chowdhury, will be attending the festival, with Hossain departing Dhaka on August 29 and the actors arriving in Canada on September 4.
