The only coral island in the nation, Saint Martin Island of Teknaf Upazila, is experiencing a serious dog issue.

This is the grievance expressed by the island's inhabitants as well as visiting local and foreign visitors.

The island's locals and visitors are tired of seeing stray dogs. The island's inhabitants say that there are about 4,000 dogs spread throughout an area of roughly 10 square kilometers.

There are perhaps 8,000 locals living on Saint Martin Island, according to Abdur Rahman, the island's hotelier. Aside from that, the island is today home to around 10,000 people, including those working in the tourism industry. However, the mobility of almost 4,000 dogs on the island severely disturbs both the regular lives of visitors and residents.

The islanders are particularly concerned because these dogs are a nuisance.

In this context, dog infestation on the coral island of St. Martin grows during the tourist season, according to Mujibur Rahman, Chairman of the St. Martin Island Union Parishad. Dogs run free on the island's beach area.

Once more, the market and the vicinity of the jetty are two locations where these dogs constitute a notable annoyance.

Locals assert that throughout the previous four to five years, the procedure of slaughtering dogs has ceased. As a result, there are many more dogs than before.

It's critical to tame these stray canines using substitute methods so that both locals and visitors to St. Martin Island may travel safely.
