Dhaka, Dec 30 (V7N) — Family members of martyred army officers on Monday demanded a proper reinvestigation of the 2009 Pilkhana massacre.
They voiced this demand during a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna.

They also urged the government to declare February 25 as "Martyrs' Day" for the army officers who were killed.

During the discussion with the chief adviser, the family members described their grief, hardships, and the psychological oppression and harassment inflicted upon them by the fallen Sheikh Hasina government.

They alleged that they faced inhumane repression when seeking justice and were subjected to various forms of torture to silence the truth.

The family members further said the claims made by the Hasina government about rehabilitating the families of the martyrs on Dhaka Cantonment's Moinul Road were entirely false.

No family of the martyrs was allocated a residence there, they said.

They also mentioned that several promises made to the families, such as providing free education to the children of the martyrs, were not fulfilled.

Yunus expressed his astonishment over the lack of a comprehensive investigation into the massacre even after so many years.

He said: “It is unbelievable that the details of this massacre have been concealed for so long. I learned many things from you today.”

Yunus added: “With the resources we have, we will reveal all the information related to this incident. All relevant data must be gathered as soon as possible. The entire nation witnessed this massacre, and on behalf of the people, we feel that justice for this massacre must be served.”
