Rajshahi, Jan 03, (V7N) - Eight Sub-Inspectors (SI) undergoing training at the Sarda Police Academy in Rajshahi have been dismissed. The dismissal letters were handed to them on Wednesday night, with instructions to leave the academy by 9:00 PM.

The decision came after the eight SIs were issued show-cause notices on Sunday evening for misbehaving and causing a disturbance during an outdoor session. The show-cause notice required them to provide an explanation within three working days. They were warned that failure to provide a satisfactory explanation would result in dismissal.

Although the Academy's Principal, Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, could not be reached for comment, sources from the training batch confirmed the dismissal of the eight trainees. The dismissal letters were handed to the SIs during their night class, after which they left the class in tears. They were instructed to vacate the academy premises by the same night.

Sources further revealed that the eight SIs were told they would be part of the passing-out parade scheduled for January 9. However, there is uncertainty among them about whether they will still participate in the ceremony due to their dismissal.

The 40th Cadet SI batch, consisting of 823 trainees, started their basic training at Sarda on November 4 of the previous year. During the training period, 313 SIs were issued show-cause notices for various instances of misconduct and disorder in both outdoor and classroom settings. As a result, they were dismissed. On three separate occasions, dismissals took place on October 21 (252 trainees), November 4 (58 trainees), and November 18 (3 trainees). This recent batch of eight is the fourth group to be dismissed for similar behavior.

Earlier, the final passing-out parade for the 40th BCS Police Cadet batch, consisting of 62 Assistant Police Superintendents, was also postponed twice. Originally scheduled for October 20, the parade was called off unexpectedly, and despite rescheduling for November 24, it was again delayed.
