Around 4:30 on Monday, February 26, in Jaliapalong Union of Cox's Bazar, Ukhiyar, on Marine Drive road, a single Olive Ridley mother turtle gave birth to 101 eggs and then went back to the sea in good condition. Additionally, a total of 566 eggs from 5 tortoises have been conserved, including 240 eggs from the Shamlapur 2 tortoises in Teknaf, 115 eggs from 1 tortoise in Mathabhanga, and 110 eggs from 1 tortoise in North Sheelkhali.

Tariqul Islam, the senior scientific officer of the Bangladesh Marine Research Institute (Bori), affirmed the veracity of this. Additionally, he reported that 566 of the turtles' eggs hatched and made a safe return to the sea. This is good news.

In the previous two months, 94 deceased mother turtles, according to him, had drifted from Sonadia to St. Martin. The last several days have seen a sharp increase in the number. Ten mother turtles drifted dead yesterday as well. The majority of turtles have tangled webbing and bruises all over their body. Their situation worries us.

The Bangladesh Ocean Research Institute, Marine Life Alliance, and CODEC-Nature and Life Project hatcheries have all gathered and are holding the eggs.
