Panchagarh Mar 08 (V7N) - A Bangladeshi national, Al Amin (38), was shot and killed by India's Border Security Force (BSF) at the Bhitargarh border in Panchagarh Sadar upazila early today. The incident took place about 50 yards inside India from Sub Pillar 7 of Border Pillar 744, under Bhitargarh Border Outpost (BOP), Nilphamari Battalion (BGB-56).

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Mohammad Badruddoja, Commander of the 56th BGB Battalion (Nilphamari), confirmed the incident. Upon receiving the information, BGB immediately contacted the BSF and requested a flag meeting to discuss the matter.

Later, a flag meeting was held between BGB and BSF officials at Border Pillar 744/7 S area. During the meeting, BGB strongly protested the incident and demanded the immediate return of the body of Al Amin.

The situation remains tense at the border, and further updates are awaited regarding BSF’s response and the process of bringing back the deceased’s body.
