Ukhiya, Nov 13 (V7N) – United Kingdom’s Minister for International Development, Baroness Jenny Chapman, visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya upazila on Thursday morning to assess the ongoing humanitarian activities and the living conditions of displaced Rohingya communities.
During her visit to the Balukhali camp, the British minister observed various aid operations and interacted with Rohingya children at a learning center. She inquired about their education and well-being, expressing appreciation for the efforts made by humanitarian organizations working on the ground.
Baroness Chapman also held discussions with officials from relevant agencies regarding the progress of humanitarian assistance, international cooperation, and the long-term challenges faced by the Rohingya population.
Speaking to reporters, the minister reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting both humanitarian assistance and Bangladesh’s efforts toward the safe and voluntary repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar.
According to officials, the minister is scheduled to visit several other Rohingya camps during her day-long trip before returning to Dhaka for meetings with government representatives and development partners.
Her visit underscores the UK’s continued engagement in addressing the Rohingya crisis, which remains one of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
