Habiganj, Dec 16 (V7N) – The 55th Great Victory Day was celebrated in Madhabpur with colorful yet solemn programs, reflecting deep respect for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the 1971 Liberation War.
The official observance began at sunrise on Tuesday as the Upazila Administration laid floral wreaths at the Madhabpur Central Shaheed Minar. Freedom fighters, political leaders, social and cultural organizations, teachers and students from educational institutions, and people from various walks of life also placed wreaths at the memorial, expressing profound gratitude and respect for the supreme sacrifices of the nation’s heroic sons.
At 7:00 am, freedom fighters and members of their families paid tribute at the historic Teliyapara Tea Garden Memorial, one of the most significant sites of the Liberation War. A brief discussion was held there, recalling the memories, bravery, and sacrifices of the freedom fighters who played a vital role in the struggle for independence.
Later in the day, a disciplined parade and an impressive display were held at the Madhabpur Pilot High School fields with the participation of students from different educational institutions. The patriotic performances, synchronized marching, and visual displays captivated the audience and aimed to instill the spirit of the Liberation War and love for the country among the younger generation.
As part of the key programs of the day, a reception was organized in honor of the valiant freedom fighters. Madhabpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zahid bin Kashem attended the program as the chief guest and presented honors to the freedom fighters. In his address, he said that the nation achieved an independent and sovereign Bangladesh through the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, and that their contributions would be remembered with eternal respect and gratitude.
Senior officials of the Upazila Administration, elected representatives, freedom fighters, and distinguished guests also spoke at the event, highlighting the significance of Victory Day and reaffirming their commitment to building the country in line with the ideals of the Liberation War.
Through these day-long programs, Madhabpur observed the Great Victory Day in a festive yet dignified atmosphere, reflecting national pride, remembrance, and unity.
