Dhaka, Dec 20 (V7N)- The funeral prayer of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi will be held today (Saturday) after Zohr at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. In view of the large gathering expected at the venue, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a set of traffic directives and alternative route instructions.

DMP Deputy Police Commissioner (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman announced the directives through a press release issued on Friday night (December 19).

According to the notification, traffic movement on Manik Mia Avenue will remain restricted during the funeral. Vehicular movement from Khejur Bagan Crossing to Manik Mia Avenue will be completely closed to facilitate the funeral proceedings.

Alternative Traffic Routes

To ensure smooth traffic flow, DMP advised city residents to follow these alternative routes:

1. Mirpur Road to Farmgate via Manik Mia Avenue:

Vehicles coming from the north should turn right at Ganabhaban Crossing, proceed via Lake Road–Urojahaz Crossing–Bijoy Sarani Crossing, and then move toward Farmgate.

2. Farmgate to Manik Mia Avenue via Indira Road:

Vehicles should go from Farmgate to Khejur Bagan Crossing, turn right to Urojahaz Crossing, then left to Lake Road, and proceed to Ganabhaban Crossing.

3. Dhanmondi to Farmgate:

Vehicles from Dhanmondi-27 should take a right U-turn at Asadgate–Ganabhaban Crossing, then another U-turn at Lake Road–Urojahaz Crossing, and continue via Bijoy Sarani toward Farmgate.

4. Asadgate to Farmgate Crossing:

Vehicles should move from Asadgate, turn left at Ganabhaban Crossing, right to Lake Road–Urojahaz Crossing, then right at Bijoy Sarani toward Farmgate.

5. Indira Road/Elevated Expressway to Dhanmondi:

Vehicles should turn right at Khejur Bagan Crossing, left at Urojahaz Crossing, left at Lake Road, then left at Asadgate, and proceed toward Dhanmondi.

6. Mirpur Road to Dhanmondi-27:

Vehicles will not be allowed via Manik Mia Avenue and should instead use the Shyamoli–Shishu Mela–Ganabhaban–Asadgate route.

7. Elevated Expressway Users:

Drivers are requested to use the FDC (Hatirjheel) ramp instead of the Farmgate exit ramp during the funeral.

The DMP has urged all drivers to avoid Manik Mia Avenue from Saturday morning until the funeral and burial are completed and to strictly follow traffic instructions.

For safety reasons, attendees have also been requested not to carry bags or heavy items. The DMP sought the cooperation of city residents to maintain smooth traffic management.

Funeral and Burial Details

Sharif Osman Hadi’s body arrived in the country around 6:00 pm on Friday (December 19) and was kept at the National Heart Institute morgue. According to Inqilab Manch sources, his body will be taken to the Dhaka University Central Mosque before the funeral.

After the Janaza at the South Plaza of Parliament, he will be buried beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in the Dhaka University area.
