SHERPUR, Feb 4, (V7N) — General Secretary of the Sherpur district unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the party-nominated candidate for the Sherpur-3 constituency, Nuruzzaman Badol, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday. He was 51.

The death was confirmed by Sherpur district Jamaat Ameer Maulana Hafizur Rahman, who said Badol breathed his last at around 3:00am.

According to family sources, Badol fell critically ill at around 10:00pm on Tuesday after suffering respiratory complications. He was first taken to Shribordi Upazila Health Complex. As his condition worsened, doctors referred him to Swadesh Hospital in Mymensingh for advanced treatment.

However, his health deteriorated further while being transported to Mymensingh, and he died at around 3:00am near the bridge area at the entrance to the city. He was later taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors on duty officially declared him dead.

Masud, the deceased’s brother, said the first Namaz-e-Janaza would be held at the Sherpur Poura Eidgah ground, followed by a second Namaz-e-Janaza at the Shribordi Upazila College ground.
