DHAKA, Mar 11, (V7N) – Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni today said the government is committed to building an effective and vibrant parliament that reflects the democratic aspirations of the people.
Speaking to reporters after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s meeting with ruling party lawmakers at Sangshad Bhaban, Moni stressed that all parliamentary issues can be resolved through dialogue and constructive debate.
He described the national parliament as a symbol of the people’s rights, dignity and democratic struggle, noting that the first session of the 13th Parliament will begin tomorrow. The session will open with the oath of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, followed by the election of JS panel chairmen, a condolence motion, and discussions.
Moni said the government’s goal is to run a responsible and lively parliament, encouraging rational arguments and healthy debates on issues of national importance. “Finding solutions to national problems through talks despite differences of opinion is the beauty of democracy. For that purpose, we are determined to make the parliament an effective and meaningful one,” he added.
He urged cooperation from both the public and the opposition, emphasizing that mutual respect, dialogue and consensus are essential for building a stronger, self‑reliant future.
The Chief Whip reiterated that the government’s commitment is to improve the living standards of ordinary citizens, saying, “Our main goal is to turn the hopes and aspirations of the people into reality through an effective parliament.”
