Dhaka, Sep 26 (V7N) – Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of BNP’s National Standing Committee, has been acquitted of charges related to the occupation of shrimp farms and fish theft in Charandwip, Chakaria Upazila, Cox's Bazar. The Senior Judicial Magistrate's court in Cox’s Bazar dismissed the two cases on Thursday.

Salahuddin and the co-accused sought suspension and bail, which the court granted, leading to their acquittal. Speaking to the media, Salahuddin expressed satisfaction, saying the judiciary's independence has been demonstrated, and justice was served.

The cases were filed in 2007, accusing Salahuddin and over 50 BNP activists of attacking and stealing from two shrimp farms in 2001. During the trial, the plaintiffs failed to present any witnesses, and the allegations could not be proven, leading to the acquittal.
