Dhaka, Sep 27 (V7N): Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, urged the interim government to hold discussions with all relevant stakeholders, including political parties, to outline a roadmap for reforms and elections, conduct a fair election within an appropriate timeframe, and step down gracefully.

He expressed these views while addressing a gathering organized by Jamaat's Khulna metropolitan unit in Sonadanga, Khulna, on Friday morning. Jamaat Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar also spoke as a special guest at the event.

Speaking about the government's education reform commission, Shafiqur called for the inclusion of at least one scholar from both the Alia and Qawmi education systems.

He also called for justice for all killings, including the 2009 BDR mutiny that claimed the lives of 57 army officers, stressing that the masterminds must be held accountable to prevent the resurgence of oppressors or the rise of a third force.

Shafiqur criticized the Awami League, asserting that those involved in mass killings should not be allowed to participate in politics. He stressed that politics should reflect the people's aspirations rather than depend on external support.

He further alleged that, under the Awami League's 15-year rule, citizens had endured widespread looting and oppression.

"The cries of thousands, including mothers, sisters, and children, have reached Allah's throne, sparking the July uprising led by students and the people," he remarked.
