Dhaka, Oct 11 (V7N): AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, underscored that fair elections and the restoration of voting rights cannot occur without first implementing national reforms. He emphasized the need to prioritize electoral reform, adding that Jamaat-e-Islami is prepared to wait until the interim government completes the necessary reforms.

Azad expressed these views while addressing a conference of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the AK School auditorium in Barishal on Friday. As a former lawmaker from Cox's Bazar-2, he pointed out that the success of the July-August movement depends on achieving lasting reforms and changes to the electoral law. He also accused the previous Awami League government of committing atrocities at Shapla Chattar.

Regarding the rising cost of commodities, Azad stressed that economic stability is key to controlling inflation, but recovery will take time. The event, chaired by Zahir Uddin Muhammad Babar, a member of Barishal Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami, was attended by over five hundred leaders and activists.
