Chattogram, August 2 (V7N) – The Chattogram City unit of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal, (JCD) has arranged a special 20-coach train to transport around 2,500 activists to a rally in Dhaka’s Shahbagh on Sunday, Aug 4. The chartered train is part of their broader campaign mobilization strategy, with the total fare estimated at around Tk 10 lakh, reportedly being collected from party members and supporters.
On July 31, the Chatra Dal submitted a formal request to Bangladesh Railway to lease the train. The railway authority approved the request the following day, issuing an urgent directive from its eastern zone office to facilitate operations on the Chattogram–Dhaka–Chattogram route. The PHT-type special train, with a seating capacity of over 1,100, will be guarded by Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB) during both journeys.
According to the schedule, the train will depart Chattogram at 7:15 AM on August 3 and reach Dhaka by 1:15 PM. It will return the same day, leaving Kamalapur Station at 7:00 PM and arriving in Chattogram around 1:00 AM on August 4.
Chattogram City Chatra Dal president Saiful Alam said the group opted for both bus and train transport to ensure smooth travel for participants. He confirmed that the fare would be funded by contributions from grassroots activists and senior leaders.
This move reflects a growing trend among political parties to organize mass transportation for rallies, especially as the national election approaches.
