Dhaka, Oct 20 (V7N) – BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was acquitted by a Dhaka court in a defamation case that was filed against him for criticizing the Awami League during a discussion in London five years ago.

Alongside Rahman, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were also acquitted in the same case.

The order was issued by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Judge Arafatur Rakib on Sunday. The case was originally filed in 2019 by AB Siddique, president of the Bangladesh Jannetri Parishad.
