Dhaka, Oct 23 (V7N) — The High Court has dismissed four extortion cases filed against BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman during the time of the 1/11 political crisis. The bench of Justice AK Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain delivered the ruling after a hearing on Wednesday, following arguments from Tariq Rahman's legal team.

Tariq Rahman's lawyers have stated that the BNP leader is committed to resolving all the legal cases against him through the proper judicial process. Currently, around 80 cases remain pending against him, all of which he intends to address legally.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal, the legal secretary of the BNP, remarked that after settling the political cases against the party’s activists, Tariq Rahman expressed his willingness to settle his own cases as well.

When questioned about the recent rumors regarding President Sahabuddin’s potential resignation, Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Barrister Qaiser Kamal, both representing Tariq Rahman, responded that the BNP is closely monitoring the developments concerning the presidency.
