Dhaka, Oct 25 (V7N) – BNP National Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy voiced skepticism over external reform suggestions, asserting that such proposals often conflict with the practical realities of Bangladesh. He made these remarks on Friday at a gathering of the Women and Children’s Rights Forum of Munshiganj district, held at BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan.

Roy stated, "Since we all agreed on a fair and free election, we proposed those reforms. Those tasked with the responsibility should carefully review the proposals to correct any errors before presenting them to the nation.” He reiterated BNP’s commitment to a 31-point reform proposal, which evolved from a 27-point initiative introduced by Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman and refined through discussions among allied parties.

Addressing recent actions, Roy questioned the ban placed on a political organization, noting that its members still operate freely. He highlighted that Jahangir Kabir Nanak recently released a statement regarding the banned Chhatra League, raising questions about the logic behind the continued influence of such groups in the media.

Roy emphasized that the BNP’s 31-point reform proposal has garnered the consensus of around 40 parties and urged the interim government to adopt this framework. "These points should be taken seriously. If adjustments are required, consult with political parties,” he suggested, adding that these reforms should not necessitate lengthy periods of deliberation.

The event was attended by BNP Joint Secretary Abdus Salam Azad, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu, and Women and Children Rights Forum Member Secretary Nipun Roy Chowdhury.
