Dhaka, Dec 09 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has alleged that India is engaging in conspiracies to exploit a potential Hasina-free Bangladesh for its own benefit. He issued this statement during a discussion meeting on Monday at the National Press Club, marking the publication of the book Leader and Poet by journalist and writer Kalam Faizi.

Gayeshwar criticized India's recent actions, such as restricting visas and Letters of Credit (LCs) for Bangladeshis, warning that these measures could backfire and lead to economic challenges for India itself. "If this relationship continues as it is, famine in India cannot be prevented," he stated.

He accused Indian journalists of spreading false narratives about Bangladesh to serve their own interests while ignoring the reality on the ground. He also urged Bangladeshi media to play a stronger role in countering such narratives.

Warning of strained future relations, Gayeshwar noted, "India's aggressive attitude has alienated its neighbors, including Nepal and Bhutan. If this continues, relations with Bangladesh will also deteriorate."

The BNP leader further alleged that India has been exploiting Bangladesh for the past 53 years, accusing it of "drugging and looting" the nation while keeping it subdued.

His comments come amid heightened political and economic tensions between the two countries, with observers noting increased friction in bilateral relations.
