Dhaka, Dec 18 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has expressed dissatisfaction with the current election roadmap, stating that the party’s expectations have not been met. He urged the government to expedite reforms and ensure elections are held within 4-6 months if it is sincere in its democratic commitments.
Speaking at the inauguration of a medical camp organized by the Ziaur Rahman Foundation in Banani’s Korail area on Wednesday, Salahuddin Ahmed appealed to the interim government to refrain from using tactics that could hinder the democratic process.
“The elections are long-awaited, and it is crucial to complete the necessary reforms quickly to pave the way for free and fair elections,” he said. Salahuddin also highlighted the failures of various government agencies, alleging that their inefficiencies allowed "fascist accomplices" to flee across borders. He demanded accountability for those who facilitated such escapes.
Addressing the caretaker government system, the BNP leader remarked that its full reinstatement in the constitution is a positive development for the country and its people.
The BNP has consistently advocated for electoral reforms and a transparent election process, and Salahuddin Ahmed’s comments further underline the party's stance as the nation gears up for anticipated polls.
