Dhaka, Dec 31 (V7N)— After nearly 14 years, the central members' conference of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir commenced in public at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. The event began at 8 am on Tuesday, drawing members from across the country to participate directly in the gathering.
The conference features two main sessions: an open session from 8 am to 1 pm, followed by a working session from 2 pm to 5 pm. The event was inaugurated by the father of Shaheed Ali Raihan, a key figure in the anti-discrimination movement in Rajshahi, with several family members of martyrs present on stage.
The highlight of the conference is the announcement of the elected central president for the 2025 session. Members cast their votes online between 7 pm on December 29 and 9 pm on December 30. The results will be revealed during the conference.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, is set to attend as the chief guest. The organization expressed hope that this historic conference will mark a new chapter for the group.
The gathering underscores Chhatra Shibir's commitment to fostering leadership and unity among its members nationwide.
