Pabna, Jan 08, (V7N) - Pabna's Ishwardi became the scene of a clash between the Jubo Dal and swecha sebak dal on Tuesday evening, resulting in one person being injured by gunfire. The incident took place near Rooppur Kindergarten, adjacent to BBC Bazaar in Pakshi Union.
 
The injured individual, Lipu (40), is the son of Latif Pramanik from Charrupur Photu Market area and is an activist of the swecha sebak dal.
 
Details of the Incident
Abdul Khaleq, Joint Secretary of Pakshi Union swecha sebak dal, stated, "Lipu, along with Russell, Sajib, and other activists, was passing by the house of Sultan Ali Tony Biswas, the Upazila Jubo Dal Convener. At that time, Tony’s nephews Chandan, Jyoti, and Kalu stopped them and demanded that they work for Tony’s group. When Lipu and his companions refused, an altercation broke out, and during the clash, Tony's men shot Lipu in the left leg before fleeing the scene."
 
Following the incident, Lipu was taken to Pabna General Hospital by locals. Abdul Khaleq has expressed his intent to take legal action.
 
Tony Biswas Denies Allegations
In response to the accusations, Sultan Ali Tony Biswas denied involvement, saying, "I was out on personal errands. Neither my nephews nor my associates were involved in any attack or gunfire. I have no knowledge of who was responsible."

Police Investigation

Shahidul Islam Shahid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station, confirmed the event. "We were informed through the Rooppur Police Outpost. Officers have inspected the location. However, no formal complaints have been lodged yet," he said.
