Dhaka, Jan 23 (V7N) — Hospitals across the country have introduced special treatment services for individuals injured during the student uprising of 2024. The initiative comes following directives from BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
On Thursday, Dr. Erfanul Haque Siddiqui, Member Secretary of the Bangladesh Orthopaedic Society and Vice President of Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB), visited Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital to oversee the treatment of Nannu Matin, a resident of Bogra Sadar Upazila who was critically injured in police firing on August 4.
Nannu Matin, who sustained nearly a hundred bullet injuries during the uprising, still has around fifty rubber bullets lodged in his body. Admitted with severe spinal cord issues, his special treatment is now underway under the supervision of a medical team, in line with Tarique Rahman's instructions.
The visit was attended by prominent figures, including Amra BNP Paribas Member Secretary Mokchedul Momin Mithun, Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital Deputy Director Nandalal Saha, Dr. M. R. Hasan, Dr. Anika, agriculturalist Ninad, Chhatra Dal leader Mahan, and Dr. Fahim.
This initiative highlights BNP's commitment to supporting those injured during the protests, ensuring they receive the necessary medical care and rehabilitation.
