Dhaka, Feb 01 (V7N)BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged authorities to prevent any further extrajudicial killings, calling for an end to incidents similar to those that occurred in Comilla, the enforced disappearance of BNP leader Ilias, the killing of Chhatra Dal leader Munna in Uttara, and the detention of Jubo Dal leader Md. Touhidul Islam by joint forces.

He made these remarks on Tuesday afternoon during a winter clothing distribution program in Uttara, Dhaka.

Addressing party activists and the public, Mirza Fakhrul warned against political opportunism, stating that those who attempt to occupy BNP from within are not only enemies of the party but also of the country.

"We cannot afford to make compromises just because someone is from the Awami League. We must stop these attempts at infiltration and stand firm in our principles," he said.

He also emphasized that BNP’s ability to govern the country depends on winning the people's mandate through fair elections, stressing that the government must ensure impartial elections.

Referring to the formation of a new political party by students, Fakhrul welcomed the initiative but cautioned that people would not accept any political organization that emerges under government influence.

"We must work together for democracy and fair elections. Attempts are being made to break our unity, but we cannot allow anyone from the Awami League to enter our party and disrupt our movement," he added.

The BNP leader reiterated the party’s commitment to restoring democracy and ensuring justice for victims of political violence.
