Cox's Bazar, Feb 09, (V7N) - After nine years, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has received his national identity card (smart card). He collected the card on Saturday morning at 11 AM from the Pekua Upazila Election Office, where Upazila Election Officer Rezaul Karim and other local administrative officials were present.
During the event, Salahuddin Ahmed emphasized the need for urgent reforms in the electoral system. He also advised the Election Commission to play a stronger role in ensuring free and fair elections.
As part of his two-day visit to Cox's Bazar, Salahuddin Ahmed attended several events. In the afternoon, he participated in the annual program of the Pekua Upazila Secondary School Teachers' Welfare Association, where he called for collective efforts to improve the quality of education.
Later, he inaugurated the Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Gold Cup Tournament at the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Coastal College ground. In the evening, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of Aziziah Madrasa Jame Masjid in Pekua's Magnama and attended a gathering of well-wishers.
The senior BNP leader became emotional as he spoke to the people of his home region after over a decade. In his speech at the gathering, he urged people to fight for their rights in a democratic country and choose representatives who dedicate themselves to the welfare of the country and its citizens.
