Dhaka, Feb 16 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku has firmly stated that there is no possibility of holding local government elections under the interim government before the national elections.

Tuku made this remark while paying homage to the grave of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman alongside members of the new convening committee of the Sirajganj District BNP on Sunday morning.

Tuku reiterated that BNP is an election-oriented party and remains committed to a fair and participatory national election before any local polls.

"Our activities will now gain more momentum in the districts under the leadership of the newly formed convening committee," he added.

His statement aligns with BNP’s ongoing demands for electoral reforms and a transparent process before any elections take place in the country.
