Pabna, July 8 (V7N) - National Citizens’ Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam declared in Pabna that while this generation succeeded in removing Sheikh Hasina, political parties in Bangladesh have failed to remove the “President Chuppu,” accusing them of deceiving the people following a “people’s uprising.” Islam spoke at an evening march rally held at Shaheed Chattar on Monday.

Several leaders, including NCP’s southern organizer Hasnat Abdullah, addressed the rally, criticizing the delay in elections and calling for urgency: “Election has been delayed by those who delay reform… We demand elections as soon as possible, but along with reform.”

Hasnat Abdullah further warned the youth against conspiracies by India, the ruling party, and the media, stating that one political party claims the march lacks legal basis and has resumed “Mujibism contracting.” The NCP promised to issue a second “Bangladesh Declaration” from the central Shaheed Minar on August 3 and called for a march to Dhaka.

He defended media freedom and fact-based journalism, rejecting media intimidation: “We want media independent and free from mafia networks… We are not afraid of statements.”

Northern regional organizer Sarjis Alam emphasized that the march aims to end extortion, false charges, and land grabbing: “No more extortion, false cases, or occupation—new Bangladesh will move forward.”

Senior joint secretary Dr. Tasnim Zara called for a new constitution, stating, “We don’t want a constitution that allows the state to kill, maim, or blind its citizens.” She also criticized the government's failure to provide medical care and rehabilitation to injured protestors.

Other speakers included NCP leaders Nasiruddin Patwari, Ariful Islam Adib, Mahin Sarkar, Asadullah, Sohel Rana Manik, and student movement leader Barqatullah Fahad.

Despite a drizzle delaying their arrival until 10 PM, leaders and supporters gathered under light rain at Shaheed Chattar, including members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, professionals, and students. The rally began in the evening and continued into the night.
