Dhaka, February 25, (V7N) - BNP Vice Chairman and former minister Abdullah Al Noman has passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un). He fell ill at his residence in Dhanmondi early Tuesday morning and was rushed to Square Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. BNP’s media cell confirmed the news. He was 80 years old at the time of his passing.
Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP Chairperson’s media wing, stated that Noman was scheduled to be the chief speaker at a BNP rally in Chattogram today. However, the event has been canceled following his sudden demise.
BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir have expressed their condolences on his passing. Noman, who played a key role as an organizer during the Liberation War, initially started his political career under Maulana Bhasani before joining BNP during the tenure of Ziaur Rahman. The schedule for his funeral and burial will be decided by the party.
