Dhaka, Mar 06 (V7N) – BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu has stated that the genocide trial and the election process should not be linked, emphasizing that both will proceed at their own respective paces.

He made these remarks while inaugurating a three-day Women Entrepreneurs Fair at Gulshan Shooting Club on Thursday (March 6) afternoon, marking International Women's Day.

Mintu reiterated that BNP and all pro-democracy forces want national elections by December. He stressed, "Without a democratic government, law and order will not be stable, economic development will not occur, and the country will not function properly."

Commenting on the Citizens' Constituent Assembly election, Mintu said, "I don't think there is a need for a Constituent Assembly election. If the people vote and elect someone, they can make any decision based on the people's mandate."

He further asserted that political stability will return to Bangladesh once a fair election is held and people's representatives are chosen democratically.
