Rajshahi, Mar 07 (V7N) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has stated that the people of Bangladesh are eagerly awaiting the national elections and that if the Election Commission functions properly, it is possible to hold the polls in June or July.

Rizvi made these remarks on Friday morning (March 7) while meeting with the families of those killed and injured in the July Movement and participating in a prayer meeting at Mohan Park, Rajshahi.

Rizvi emphasized that the interim government should be treated as a caretaker government and warned that any delay in holding national elections could erode public trust in the government.

"At this time, there is no opportunity for local or any other elections before the national election," he added.

Rizvi also criticized the government’s stance on Bangladesh-India relations, particularly regarding border security.

"The India-Bangladesh border is the bloodiest border in the world. Even if Indian border guards shoot and kill Bangladeshis like birds, the Sheikh Hasina government remains silent," he alleged.

His comments reflect the BNP’s continued opposition to the current government’s foreign policy and electoral strategy, as political tensions in the country continue to rise ahead of the anticipated elections.
