Dhaka, Mar 07 (V7N)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly condemned the growing incidents of violence and harassment against women across the country. In a statement issued on Friday (March 7), he blamed the lack of justice for encouraging perpetrators and worsening the situation.

Mirza Fakhrul highlighted that women are making significant contributions in various fields, including education, leadership, and professional sectors, both nationally and internationally. However, he expressed deep concern that harassment, molestation, and even murder of women have been rising, particularly in educational institutions and workplaces.

"The tendency to harass and assault women in public places and institutions is increasing alarmingly. This is a dangerous trend that threatens social stability," he said in the statement.

He also accused the ruling Awami League government of failing to take effective measures to curb gender-based violence, stating that previous administrations did not take the issue seriously enough either.

Calling the protection of women’s dignity a moral and constitutional duty, Mirza Fakhrul urged the government to take immediate and strict actions to curb violence against women and ensure justice. He warned that the failure to address this crisis could lead to widespread anarchy and instability in society.

The BNP leader further emphasized that justice and security for women are essential to maintaining peace and social harmony in the country.
