Dhaka, Mar 30 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned that the party is prepared to take to the streets again if necessary in the interest of the people. He alleged that propaganda is being spread on social media targeting BNP to delay the upcoming elections.

Speaking at an Eid gift distribution event in the 100-feet Beraid area of Dhaka on Saturday afternoon (March 29), Mirza Fakhrul called on party leaders and activists to remain vigilant against both domestic and foreign conspiracies. He reiterated that BNP is not aligned with India, Pakistan, or the United States but is solely focused on Bangladesh’s interests.

Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that no foreign intervention—whether from France, London, or America—will be allowed to destabilize the country. He stated that BNP is not currently on the streets but issued a warning that the party would resume protests if the interests of the people and the party are threatened.

"BNP is neither for India nor Pakistan, neither for America nor England. BNP is for Bangladesh," he declared, reinforcing the party’s nationalist stance.

The BNP leader highlighted his party’s role in political reforms, claiming that BNP was responsible for:

  • Ending one-party rule and introducing multi-party democracy

  • Establishing the caretaker government system to ensure fair elections

  • Fighting for democratic rights over the past 17 years

He also mentioned BNP’s protest at the banks of the Teesta River, underscoring the party’s commitment to national issues.

Mirza Fakhrul alleged that a certain group is trying to delay the elections to create instability. He stressed that BNP’s struggle has always been about ensuring fair elections and establishing a government with true public representation.

"The people of this country made Dr. Muhammad Yunus the Chief Advisor to oversee elections in a short time and create a level playing field. The fight has always been for elections. But we cannot accept an indefinite rule by this government where people have no representation," he said.

The BNP Secretary General concluded by warning that if necessary, BNP will take to the field again, making it clear that the party will not remain passive if it perceives a threat to democracy and people’s rights.
