Dhaka, March 31 – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the people of Bangladesh and the Muslim Ummah. In a message sent to the media on Sunday, he emphasized that for the first time in over a decade and a half, Bangladeshis are celebrating Eid in a fear-free, democratic environment.
In his message, Tarique Rahman described Eid-ul-Fitr as a celebration of sacrifice, piety, and unity, stating:
“The holy Eid-ul-Fitr has brought a message of universal unity, solidarity, compassion, and boundless joy, purifying individual, family, social, and national life.”
He extended his heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah, saying, “Eid Mubarak to all.”
Rahman acknowledged the recent political struggles, stating that thousands of people had been injured and many lost their lives in the fight against what he called fascism. He expressed sympathy for the families of those affected, noting:
“For many families, Eid is filled with silent sorrow. Mothers mourn their lost children, and some spend Eid beside loved ones still recovering in hospitals.”
Despite concerns over law and order and economic struggles, he stressed that Eid remains a symbol of national culture and joy. He concluded his message with a prayer for peace, prosperity, and happiness for Bangladesh and the entire Muslim world.
