Dhaka, Mar 31 (V7N)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed hope that the interim government will honor the commitments it made to the people.
He made these remarks while speaking to reporters after paying homage and performing ziarat at the tomb of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at 11 AM on Monday.
Mirza Fakhrul highlighted the stark contrast between this year's Eid celebrations and those of the past 15 years, stating that the people of Bangladesh are finally able to celebrate Eid in a free environment.
During his address, he also prayed for the swift return of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to the country.
He emphasized that the struggles of the past 15 years—fought for the right to vote and access to food—must now be realized.
"I pray for the souls of those who lost their lives in the democratic movement and hope that everyone can celebrate Eid with joy," Mirza Fakhrul added.
Accompanying him at the event were BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, BNP Chairperson's advisor Aman Ullah Aman, Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, and other BNP leaders and activists.
