Pabna, July 24 (V7N) - In the midst of speculations surrounding the nomination process, former Chairman of Chatmohor Upazila Parishad and ex-member secretary of BNP's Upazila branch, Hasadul Islam Hira, has officially entered the race for the Pabna-3 parliamentary seat.

On Wednesday, July 23, he led a large motorcycle rally, traveling through Faridpur, Vangura, and Chatmohor, drawing a massive crowd of supporters. His arrival from Dhaka to Faridpur marked the beginning of a show of strength, as nearly a thousand motorcycles accompanied him through key towns before concluding at Chatmohor Bazar.

During a public rally, Hira addressed the ongoing rumors about his political stance, particularly allegations that he had supported his fellow party member, Tuhin Bhai, for the nomination. Hira clarified, stating that he was only a regular worker of the party and attended Tuhin Bhai's public meeting due to his obligations. He firmly rejected claims of supporting any candidate, emphasizing his longstanding commitment to the BNP, despite the severe challenges he has faced, including imprisonment, harassment, and attacks from political adversaries.

Hira also expressed his belief that BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, would once again grant the nomination for the Pabna-3 seat to Chatmohor, reaffirming his commitment to the local community. He stated that Chatmohor, which has been deprived of adequate development and representation for over two decades, deserves a local candidate for the seat.

He stressed, "I demand that our party nominate a candidate from Chatmohor, as the people here deserve a representative from their own locality, not someone from outside."

Hira, along with other BNP leaders, is currently pushing for the nomination of a local candidate from Chatmohor, a sentiment echoed by local party members, including Chatmohor Town BNP Secretary Tauhidul Islam Taijul, former Chairman Golam Molla, and others.

The issue has been gaining momentum as several protests, rallies, and meetings have been organized by BNP's local affiliates. Notably, BNP has already issued a preliminary nomination to BNP Central Committee member, Hasan Jafir Tuhin, for the Pabna-3 seat.

Hira’s call for a local candidate and his ongoing campaign represent the growing discontent with the party's decision to consider external candidates. His demand for the Pabna-3 seat, along with the backing of many grassroots leaders, has added fuel to the already tense political atmosphere.
