Jamalpur, Aug 28 (V7N) – Senior Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, accused certain political parties of making unrealistic public relations demands while disregarding the electoral processes familiar to the public.

Addressing a BNP rally on Wednesday at the Dewanganj Girls’ High School grounds in Jamalpur, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated that a few political groups are behaving as if they're entitled to special treatment regarding elections, despite not embracing the democratic procedures the people are used to. The event was organized by BNP’s Dewanganj and Bakshiganj upazila and municipal units, alongside all affiliated wings and organizations.

During the gathering, Rizvi distributed financial aid cheques and auto-rickshaw keys to the families of party activists who were killed or injured during the July movement. He claimed over 400 BNP activists lost their lives in the movement, yet some groups are attempting to take undue credit.

He also warned against infiltrators within the party, referring to them as “springtime cuckoos” who engage in extortion and misconduct under the party banner. He urged party members to be vigilant and resist such individuals. “Those who have endured jail and oppression will never be involved in corruption,” he said.

The event was presided over by BNP Central Treasurer and former Member of Parliament, M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, who emphasized that elections are a fundamental part of democracy. “The authoritarian regime of the Awami League has stripped the people of their electoral rights and turned democratic processes into a farce,” he said. “But the July uprising marked the beginning of the end of this dictatorship.”

Millat further noted that general elections are expected by February and called for a united effort from party workers to ensure BNP’s victory. “We must prove to the world that we can build a secure, progressive nation based on the democratic vision of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman.”

Key speakers included BNP Media Cell Convener Dr. Moudud Hossain Al-Amin Pavel and Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie. Other notable attendees were Faridul Kabir Talukdar Shamim, President of Jamalpur District BNP; Advocate Wares Ali Mamun, General Secretary; Atikur Rahman Rumon, President of the BNP Family Forum; and Manik Saudagar, President of the Bakshiganj BNP unit.

The rally concluded with a collective pledge to strengthen the party’s grassroots efforts and uphold its democratic ideals in the coming election season.
