Dhaka, Aug 30 (V7N) – People’s Rights Council President Nurul Haque Nur, who is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), has regained consciousness but is still in a critical state, doctors said.
Dr. Zahid Raihan of the neurosurgery department briefed reporters on Saturday, saying that while Nur has regained consciousness, he remains “not out of danger.”
A six-member medical board has been formed to oversee Nur’s treatment. The board is expected to meet later today to finalize his treatment plan. The names of the members have not yet been disclosed.
BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam, who visited Nur at the hospital, said blood clots have formed in Nur’s right eye, leaving him unable to open it. “Those who committed this incident must be brought to justice,” he added.
Meanwhile, Abu Hanif, a senior leader of the People’s Rights Council, alleged that outsiders joined the attackers with the support of law enforcement forces. He suggested that activists of the Chhatra League and Jubo League may have been involved in the assault.
