Dhaka, Aug 31 (V7N) – People's Rights Council President Nurul Haque Nur, who is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), is showing signs of improvement and may be discharged within a week, according to hospital authorities.

Briefing reporters on Sunday, DMCH Director Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman said Nur is gradually recovering under close medical supervision. He explained that Nur has sustained four major injuries: a broken nose, a fractured jawbone, an eye injury, and a brain hemorrhage.

“His CT scan results are improving. Although he is experiencing some trauma, treatment is continuing under the guidance of a specialized medical board. We hope to move him from the ICU to a general ward soon,” Brig. Gen. Asaduzzaman said, expressing optimism about his recovery.

He further noted that the broken bones will heal naturally over time and the brain hemorrhage is also showing positive signs of recovery.

Nur sustained these injuries on Friday night during a violent clash between leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party (JP) and the Gana Adhikar Parishad at Bijoynagar in the capital. Police intervened with baton charges to disperse the groups, leaving several injured, including Nur and the organization’s General Secretary Muhammad Rashed Khan.

Initially admitted to Islami Bank Hospital, Nur was later shifted to DMCH’s emergency unit around 11 pm following doctors’ advice.
