Dhaka, Sep 04 (V7N) – The People’s Rights Council has dismissed reports suggesting that its President Nurul Haque Nur is recovering from his injuries following the recent attack in Bijoynagar. Party General Secretary Rashed Khan alleged on Thursday that attempts are being made to portray Nur as healthy despite his critical condition.

Speaking to reporters at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Rashed Khan said, “Blood clots are still coming out of Nur’s nose, and he has sustained a brain injury. His physical condition is not stable.” He added that if Nur’s condition improves slightly, plans are being considered to take him abroad for advanced treatment within a week.

On September 2, Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus ordered that Nur be sent abroad for better treatment. The government also formed a one-member judicial investigation committee, led by Justice Md. Ali Reza, to probe the attack.

The attack took place on the night of August 29, when clashes erupted in Bijoynagar between activists of the Jatiya Party (JP) and the People’s Rights Council. Law enforcement intervened with a baton charge, leaving several injured, including Nur and General Secretary Rashed Khan. Nur was initially taken to Islami Bank Hospital before being transferred to DMCH on doctors’ advice.
