Dhaka, Sep 30 (V7N) – The National Youth Power has issued an apology and clarification regarding a statement made earlier this month by its convener, Advocate Md. Tariqul Islam, during a press briefing at the Dhakeshwari National Temple on September 15.

In a notification signed by the organization’s Principal Coordinating Secretary (Office) Anisur Rahman, the Youth Power expressed regret, acknowledging that the convener’s remarks were “misunderstood due to inadequacy of words.” The statement urged all concerned to view the matter with an open mind.

The organization clarified that Tariqul Islam’s original message was intended to emphasize an inclusive, non-communal Bangladesh, where national identity as “Bangladeshi” would unite citizens beyond divisions of religion or ethnicity.

The notice stated:

  • Original intent: “The future Bangladesh will be an inclusive, non-communal Bangladesh. In this Bangladesh, our only identity is that we are Bangladeshis. We want to build the future Bangladesh with the Bangladeshi identity.”

  • Clarification: He did not mean to disregard religious identities, but rather to transcend divisions and highlight the need for harmony.

A revised version of the statement was also issued:

“The future Bangladesh will be an inclusive, non-communal Bangladesh. Not any ethnic, religious, or group identity, but rather, to build a Bangladesh of harmony, we should all be Bangladeshis. We want to build the future Bangladesh with the Bangladeshi identity.”
