Dhaka, Oct 10 (V7N) – Maulana Mamunul Haque, Amir of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, has demanded that parliamentary elections be held only after implementing the legal framework of the July Charter through a referendum.
He made the remarks at a protest rally held at the North Gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque on Friday (October 10), where he called for a 5-point demand, including elections through the Proportional Representation (PR) system.
Maulana Mamunul Haque also warned of launching a movement if the July Charter is not implemented prior to the elections via presidential order and referendum.
Urging political parties to take clear positions, he stated, “Those who oppose 24 will be considered supporters of the eloquent constitution of ’72.”
He further emphasized that the struggle will continue until fascism is fully eradicated and efforts to revive it are permanently blocked.
